The Rabbit

On the road,

laid a rabbit.

Its entrails had been dragged out,

and blackened by tires,

which never deviated from their path.

I pulled my car over,

and removed a pair of bolt cutters from my trunk.

Returning to the rabbit,

I  lopped off its foot.

A rabbit’s foot is meant to bring good luck.
